Just saw the 1993 movie "Secret Garden" and it was great. Based on book written by Frances Hodgson Burnett the movie was filmed perfectly - great location, sets, costumes. The allegory (the life is a garden, you grow what you plant, love nurtures growth and so forth) is beautiful. What impressed me about the story was how much was fantasy - the young boy who tames animals, the young girl who is wise beyond her years, birds "talking" to children - that was great. I am always amazed at such imagination and fantasy in the minds of an author, and the allegory was beautiful. What could have been a shallow, trite story was instead a beautiful fairy tale, with lessons for adults.
