The book by john le carre was great, but the movie is absolutely FANTASTIC! A must see! the movie is better than the book, and the book was so great that it got me reading more about foreign aid scandals in Africa. The African continent is in melt down mode: things will get worse. Humans are a frightening species: we have amazing ways of creating our own hells right here on earth. "Jesus wept" is the shortest sentence in the bible: God is out there somewhere weeping for what we do (have done)to Africa. See these books.
I read "The Road to Hell" about aid in Africa, and it was depressing beyond belief. These religious charities are scarey: South Parks take on "starvin' marvin" is not far off, only its not Sally Struthers who is gorging herself, but those self righteous religious charities and their opportunistic employees. You might also want to read "Dark Star Safari," Paul Theroux's book about traveling from North to South in Africa on bus: an amazing tale.
