Reporter Judy Miller

Someone correct me if I am wrong. Judy Miller goes to prison to "protect her sources," a sacrificial journalistic lamb willing to wear a jump suit and eat green bologna sandwiches for the higher principles of journalism and freedom of the press. However, her story "outing" Valerie Plame as a CIA agent is very complicated. Plame's husband, Joseph, contradicted Bush Administration claims that Iraq sought nuclear material, one of the assertions linked to WMD and the invasion of Iraq. Miller gets info from VP Cheney (or his asst Scooter Libby) about Plame's wife, outing her as a CIA agent, to punish Joseph for embarrassing the Bush Admin. Miller then goes on to publish poorly researched stories about Koffee Annan and the UN Oil for Peace program, exposing corruption between the UN and Saddam (as if graft, corruption and fraud are not already well known at the UN). Anywho, Miller sounds like a journalist who will publish stories to benefit the Bush admin - what a novel idea! Journalists with the most access to the White House write the most positive stories about the white house, and the most damaging stories for Bush's opposition. So why did Miller go to jail??? For freedom of the press? Or to protect her sources at the White House? Who does she work for? The New York Times? Her stories helped the NYT compete with other news sources for information about WMD leading up to the Iraq war - this is New York for cripes sake, site of 911! Of course they want a well selling story. But is she protecting her sources for journalism, or because she is a Bush mole at the NYT? Is she CIA? Is she free lancing for the White House? Is this just a question of access, or is money involved? She is a pulitzer prize winning journalist, so why does she have to publish the table scraps that VP Cheney throws her? Dumb? Ambitious and stupid? Or a Bush mole at NYT? I think she works for Cheney, she planted stories for chency, she went to prison to protect Cheney, and her deal to get out of prison involves her damaging the White House as little as possible. A deal has been made: Miller gets out of prison, she hurts the White House a little, but Cheney gets protected. How does the american public put up with this farce we call the free press? Did you see her when she got out of prison? She looked good! Not like Susan McDougal looked (Clinton's ex girlfriend) when the republicans let her out of federal prison. The press IS NOT reporting this story accurately, investigative journalism is dead.
